Bela Viaduct
Couple of images of the Bela viaduct that stood on the edge of the estuary until 1966.It stood for nearly 100 years, the pivotal component of the Arnside / Hincaster branch line. The line had 2 Stations one at Heversham, the platform of which can still be seen and the other at Sandside where the Kingfisher Restaurant is.Towards the end of its life the line was mainly used for coal deliverys. In 1963 Dr Beeching swung his axe and the branch line along with many others was closed. The structure was demolished in 1966,a disasterous decision
